Jerusalema is based on the story of Lucky Kunene, an underworld figure who in the 1990s took over real estate in the Hillbrow neighborhood of Johannesburg, South Africa .A city which was fathered by gold mothered by money and commanded by white men with cruelty .
Most people who watch SABC have seen him in some soaps like Generations. My favourite soap who played Karabo Moroka's Husband . .Introducing Mr. Kunene himself !
I like the begining when he quoted his uncle who told him that "If you steal , steal big and hope like hell that you get away with it ". And his other uncle who told him that "all wealth is theft"
Lucky , who grew up in a poor family with 3 siblings. He was raised by a single mother they lived in Soweto.His family was so poor such that they could hustle to make ends meet or find food for the day . at Lucky's best friend was Zekes who was always stcking around and were always together . Thats what I call friendship.
He applied for a place at Johannesburg Technical university to study computer science.He was accepted but poor lucky was not under sponsorship so he tried working hard to raise money for his studies .Since Poverty is a root of evil too , Lucky and Zeke ventured into bad bussiness with Nazareth who was a guerrilla and a car thief . But Nazareth did not call it call theft he called it :Affirmative repossesion . What a positive way of describing it .
During another unsuccessful operation Nazareth gets caught and is imprisoned . This makes Lucky and Zeke scared making them to leave Soweto for Hillbrow. There they ventured into Taxi bussines which was not earning as much as they did when they were repossessing cars affirmatively.Later Nazareth gets released , since no one can quit crime they form the Hillbrow Housing fund which made them possess alot of buildings. The citizens called Lucky Kunene the Robinhood of Hillbrow. The police was on the outlook for themfor their unlawful repossession .
Things turned sour when Nazareth turns against them and Kills Zekes . Payback for Zeke was all that Lucky needed. Nazareth gets what he deserved and then The police hunts Lucky Kunene down and arrests him . He escaped by the help of his friends and his girlfrend who helps leave Johannesburg for Durban .
I can't explain the whole movie , but this is a must watch ! I was surprised to see that South Africa can cook something this big which even got a nomination .Well thumbs up for you guys because you have beat the best Nollywood action movies !!!!
